A New Release of Trip Journal for iPhone and Android Just In Time For The Holidays

28th Nov, 2011

Trip Journal for iPhone 7.0This holiday season we are so thankful to know that many of you will be sharing your holiday travels with Trip Journal. Track your route, add your favorite photos and video, and jot down notes to remember about the places you visited. You can write notes in the journal to describe your vacation experiences and you can add comments to photos and videos as well.

When you are ready to share your trip, we’ve integrated Trip Journal with your favorite social networks and content sharing portals, including Facebook, Flickr, Picasa, YouTube, and Twitter, to bring you more interactivity than ever before. Along with viewing your photos, you can see your entire trip on the map with our Trip Journal for Facebook app and invite your Facebook friends and family as well.

With Google Earth integration, Trip Journal allows friends and family to easily see the route you traveled, the places you found most interesting, and full screen photos, videos, and comments about the places you visited. It even includes trip stats like the distance, time and geography you traveled.

We’re also thankful for your continued feedback on how we can make Trip Journal even better. One thing you asked us to do was to make it easier for you to create trips. This new version of Trip Journal continues to offer you great features to create and share a memorable travelogue but we’ve made some changes that make it easier than ever to capture a media-rich travelogue of your travel experiences and share them with friends and family.

This version improves the on screen experience by shortening the number of steps you’ll need to perform any given task in creating your trip and it’s fully supporting retina display for a vivid picture for iOS5, and better graphics for Android.

We’ve also heard your feedback on adding Waypoints. We went to work on this request and now there is no need to navigate through multiple menus and screens — you can create your trip with a few simple steps in one main screen. Waypoints are now called Places and it’s much clearer how to organize all the media and notes for the Places that you’ve added on the map in your trip journal.

We encourage our long-time users to try out the new Design and Usability for a while.
Our experience is that the application is a lot more usable now and we are still working on the fine details of the UI design in future updates. Please send your feedback using the page at http://www.trip-journal.com/contact

What you’ll get in the end with Trip Journal, no matter which version you use, are one-of-a-kind travel journals handcrafted by you, rich with your travel experience and full of great travel memories captured for many years to come that you can share anytime and anywhere, with family and friends far or near.

For our nostalgic users who prefer the old look of Trip Journal, we will re-publish the former version of Trip Journal as a free app, under a name to be announced soon. You’ll be able to export/import trips between the two apps.

If you would like to be informed when the old-style app is available in the Store please subscribe to our newsletter.

Important Update on Trip Journal 7.0 for iPhone!

Due to technical issues, version 7.0 of Trip Journal for iPhone asked previous paid users of Trip Journal to buy In-App Purchases for trips. This was an error and we apologize for this. We went to work on a fix as soon as we were aware. We were unable to fix the issue with an update while still keeping the In-App Purchase option for previous users so we removed the app from the store until we have version 7.1 approval from Apple that simply removes In-App Purchases completely for existing paid users.

We apologize for the inconvenience and hope that Apple will approve the new update as soon as possible.

Users who updated to 7.0 and got the IAP request to buy trips, should upgrade when 7.1 is out.  You will be able to enjoy the full features of Trip Journal without any further payments.

Thank you for your continuous support!

Trip Journal Virgin Atlantic EditionVirgin Atlantic has added a new version of Trip Journal to its collection, a mobile application, developed by iQapps. This solution offers VA passengers the possibility to record travel experiences and share them with  their family and friends from around the world.

Because of our long and successful partnership, iQapps was chosen to develop a customized version of Trip Journal, which corresponds to new requirements and the Virgin Atlantic format.

This is how Trip Journal – Virgin Atlantic Edition was born. It is available for iPhone and Android, and can already be downloaded for free.

Virgin Atlantic Trip Journal keeps all the features offered by Trip Journal and is limited to a maximum of 3 trips. The user has the possibility to purchase the premium version in order to be able to create an unlimited number of trips.

The app developed for Virgin Atlantic contains a new option named “Featured Trips”, containing trips meant to highlight all the ways in which the application can record and manage information, routes, images and video content.

New Export features in Trip Journal 6.0 for iPhoneSpring is almost here and travelers around the world start preparing their travel destinations agendas and we’re here to help you document and share your trips with launch of Trip Journal 6.0 for iPhone.

We’re bringing you lots of goodies besides the fixes and additions that we include in every new release. As part of our commitment to continuously improve Trip Journal, we have included new features that we believe will simplify and improve the way you start up and share your trips with friends and family.

For starters, we’d like to introduce a much requested export feature. You now have the possibility to export trips directly from Trip Journal, by email, to any Trip Journal user within your contacts list. The recipient will then be able to import the trip to their Trip Journal app and enjoy the travel memories you shared with them. What a great way to share Trip Journal with in-app GetSatisfaction implementationvacations, pictures and travel comments for all those marvelous locations you’ve visited.

We’ve also made it quicker to start a trip in mere seconds. You can now started a trip just by adding the initial waypoint on the map or by using the detected location.

Last but not least, to help you report any issues, send us feedback or give us suggestions, we’ve added access to the Trip Journal Users Community within the app. Now every support request or message sent to the community will be posted online instantly.

Install the new update and enjoy all the new features. You’ll see this note displayed within the app the first time you use it after the upgrade is completed:

‘Export and Import your trips to/from another device via email! Creating a New Trip is now improved with a Map view, for a better User Experience. Send us feedback with the new Get Satisfaction component and see what the community is thinking.’

Come on over to the Trip Journal Users Community and let us know what you think about these new iPhone app additions. Happy travels!

Trip Journal 6.0 for Android released

New Trip Journal Release 6.0 for AndroidWe proudly announce the launch of  Trip Journal 6.0 for Android.

Because you requested it, we added lots of improvements and completely new features to help you have a better experience and a faster interaction with Trip Journal.

When creating a new trip, we improved the adding of a new waypoint, by enabling the users to position themselves on the map easily. If you feel that the location acquired by the device is not accurate, you can easily move the location marker to your correct position and add the waypoint there.

The new feature we want to tell you more about is the ability to export a trip from within Trip Journal‘s ‘Share trip’ menu, enabling you to email any trip to another Trip Journal user. Trips exported and sent by email can be easily imported into another device using Trip Journal.

Also, in order for the export-import feature to properly be able to extract and open the attached trips, Trip Journal requires, during the install process, that permissions be granted to ‘read’ within your email attachments. Trip Journal does not affect your privacy nor do we read the actual content of your emails.

When you have completed at least three trips, we will ask for 2 seconds of your time to rate our app. The rating screen will automatically open and will never bother you again.
