Trip Journal Virgin Atlantic EditionVirgin Atlantic has added a new version of Trip Journal to its collection, a mobile application, developed by iQapps. This solution offers VA passengers the possibility to record travel experiences and share them with  their family and friends from around the world.

Because of our long and successful partnership, iQapps was chosen to develop a customized version of Trip Journal, which corresponds to new requirements and the Virgin Atlantic format.

This is how Trip Journal – Virgin Atlantic Edition was born. It is available for iPhone and Android, and can already be downloaded for free.

Virgin Atlantic Trip Journal keeps all the features offered by Trip Journal and is limited to a maximum of 3 trips. The user has the possibility to purchase the premium version in order to be able to create an unlimited number of trips.

The app developed for Virgin Atlantic contains a new option named “Featured Trips”, containing trips meant to highlight all the ways in which the application can record and manage information, routes, images and video content.

How do I retrieve the Trip Journal crash logs?

18th Jul, 2011

Trip Journal Guide

If Trip Journal is freezing or crashing regularly, we may request crash logs from you to help us diagnose any issues. Crash logs contain information about what the app was doing just prior to the crash.

To find a log file, please sync your iPhone, iPod or iPad first, then locate the correct log file for the app using the path for your OS below. The log file’s name should start with the app’s name.

When an application crashes on the iPhone or iPod touch, a “crash report” is stored on the device. Crash reports describe the conditions under which the application terminated, in most cases including a complete stack trace for each executing thread, and are typically very useful for debugging issues in the application.

When the user synchronizes their device using iTunes, crash reports are copied to a directory on the user’s computer. If the application was distributed via the App Store and the user has chosen to submit crash logs to Apple, the crash log will be uploaded and the developer can download it via iTunes Connect. For applications that have been distributed using Ad Hoc or Enterprise methods, getting crash reports requires user cooperation. Specifically, the user will need to retrieve the crash report from the directory where it was copied by iTunes. Depending on the platform, the directory is:

  • Mac OS X: ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/<DEVICE_NAME>
  • Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Application Data\Apple Computer\Logs\CrashReporter\MobileDevice\<DEVICE_NAME>
  • Windows Vista or 7: C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Logs\CrashReporter\MobileDevice\<DEVICE_NAME>

<USERNAME> is the user’s login name for the computer. <DEVICE_NAME> is the name of the iPod touch or iPhone, for example, “John’s iPhone”.

We are only interested in .crash files. The crash report’s file name begins with the application name and contains date/time information. In addition, <DEVICE_NAME> will appear at the end of the file name, before the extension.

Once you’ve located the correct file, please email it back to us at support.tripjournal@iphone.iqapps.eu

How to recreate Past Trips with Trip Journal

23rd Jun, 2011

Some of the questions being sent to our Support Community Desk deserve a dedicated blog-post so here it is :)

Today’s question was sent by Andre, a motorcycle fan who uses Trip Journal for iPhone to document and share his bike rides:

I went around the world on a motorcycle 10 years ago, I am have finally digitized all my photos. I was wondering: Is there a wat to manually create a trip? I.e  can I add photos and way points, dates to this trip? in other words. re-create an OLD trip?

Trip Journal is a great app for tracking your trips on the go, but if you only want to be busy taking pictures with your phone during the travel and care less about recording your route and establish waypoints, you can leave that for when you get home.

All you need to make sure is that your photos are added to the Camera Roll or Photo Library, so that you can access them from the Trip Journal application, then:

1_Map_Options

Create a new trip and go to “Locate on Map”. On the map you can add manual waypoints

2_Manual_Marker

One can easily move them to the exact location, change their creation date, add a photo to them

3_Waypoint_Options

After adding the first manually created waypoint, you can delete the Start Waypoint (from Waypoint Admin) – you don’t need this since it has your current location associated with the current date

4_AddingPhotosToWaypoint

You can add more photos to a waypoint (to do this go to Waypoint List and select the waypoint to which you want to add more photos, click on the add photos button)
