Beginning August 26, we will give a free copy of  Trip Journal app per day, in form of codes for iPhone and Android users. The contest takes place on our Twitter and Facebook pages, and the first correct answer to our question of the day wins a free Trip Journal promo code for iPhone or Android, which enables you to install and enjoy the most advanced mobile travel sharing app completely free. One day – iPhone, the next day – Android.

The travel related questions are published every day, at 11.00 AM EST and you have time until 11.05 AM EST to give the right answer. The first right answer receives a promo code for Trip Journal!

Trip Journal Question Of the Day Rules:

1. ENTRY: No purchase necessary to enter or win.  To enter the contest, you must follow @TripJournal on Twitter or be a fan of ours on Facebook and be the first to give the correct answer to our travel related question published on Twitter and Facebook at 11.00AM EST. You must reply @TripJournal until 11.05 AM EST.  The contest begins on August 26 11.00 AM EST and has no definite end.

2. ELIGIBILITY: Any international Twitter/Facebook user can enter this contest. The AppStore promo codes are valid though for US based accounts only. You can sign-up for a free USA iTunes account, without a credit card, by following this tutorial. Employees and contractors (and their families) of Trip Journal or any of its affiliates are not eligible.

3. PRIZE: Trip Journal free promo codes for iPhone and Android will be given out. One day a promo code for iPhone is at stake, the next day – a promo code for Android.

4. WINNER SELECTION: The first person to correctly answer the daily question and post the answer on Facebook or tweet the answer to @TripJournal, will win that day’s prize.

5. WINNER NOTIFICATION: Each day’s winner will be announced via the TripJournal Twitter
feed and Facebook fan page. We will contact each winner via Twitter DM or Facebook private
message to provide the code.

6. CONDUCT: All contest participants agree to be bound by these Contest Rules. Trip Journal
at its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person it finds to be in violation
of these rules.

9. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY: If for any reason, the contest is not possible to run as planned,
including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention or technical
failures of any sort, Trip Journal may cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the contest.  Entrants
further agree to release Trip Journal from any liability resulting from, or related to participation
in the contest.

10. WINNERS LIST: The names of the winners will be published at the end of each month
on www.trip-journal.com.

Trip Journal 1.6 for Facebook brings two brand new features requested by some of Trip Journal most active users. In short:

  • Add comments to friends’ trips
  • Invite Facebook friends to install Trip Journal Facebook App.

Your friends can now add comments to your trips, to a specific photo/video, to a waypoint or even to a note. You can manage these comments (e.g. delete improper comments) and all your Facebook friends can read them.

And this update is all about videos!

Trip Journal now sends videos to everyone: to your Facebook friends, to your Flickr album, to your Picasa account and even to your Twitter followers.

That short clip you recorded with your Android while traveling will be in the Trip Journal Facebook Application, on the route, in the exact place you made it. Geo-tagged videos will be sent your Flickr or Picasa accounts, together with all the photos from your trips. And right after you sent your videos to Flicker, you can update your friends via Twitter about this.

The newest version of Trip Journal, now available in App Store, harnesses the features of iOS 4 and can now run in the background while you use other applications. You can easily switch between Trip Journal and other apps with a double-click of the Home button, and Trip Journal will continue to track your route.

Open any tasks, and you can jump right back to where you left Trip Journal, you don’t need to wait for it to reload; you even can listen to music while making a hike or driving. During a call, you can keep the conversation going and record your trip while Trip Journal constantly updates your position.

Please bear in mind that continued use of GPS running in the background can decrease battery life. Trip Journal can work in the background on iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4.

Ladies and gentleman, we give you the new version of Trip Journal Facebook Application!

Here’s what’s new:

Trip Journal Wall Tab, which gives you one-click access to your Trip Journal journeys and friends; just click on the Plus button in your Facebook Profile and select Trip Journal; place it among the first 5 tabs to make sure all your friends stay in touch with your latest travelling adventures!

Another novelty is that Trip Notes are displayed in the Facebook App, in a stylish voyager notebook-format. Click on the Trip Notes button in the upper right corner and voila: all your writings from the journey are there for sharing with the world.

Android users have a good reason to revel: a new version of Trip Journal is available now. The upgrade is free for all current users and it includes new features like:

  • Manual waypoints
  • Contact List Integration
  • Froyo Support (copy application to SDCard)

With Manual waypoints, you can place a waypoint wherever you want on the map jus by dragging it. And you can also change timestamps for these waypoints, so you can now record that incredible place you just missed at the time you were there.

Contact List Integration refers to the ability to select from your smartphone’s contacts directory, the people you want to send the Google Earth Export to. Instead of entering their email address, we have now introduce the ability to select them from your Contacts. When tapping Select recipients, you have two options: to import from Address Book or to Add by typing contact details. The contacts are saved in the Trip Journal memory and can be used for future exports.

Trip Journal harnesses the new features of Froyo, enabling users to move Trip Journal from the SD card to internal storage and back from the manage application settings.

We are glad to announce today that Trip Journal has been selected as a finalist within the Best Android Application category for The Gettie Awards 2010, the mobile app world’s equivalent of the Oscars, hosted by GetJar. The Gettie Awards will honor the successes and innovations of the best application developers across all major platforms from around the world. Developers will have an opportunity to showcase their work in front of industry luminaries, investors, technology press and peers at this prestigious event.

“Innovation is what drives us – and we are thrilled to be chosen as finalists for the Getties”, said Radu Iuhas, Trip Journal Product Owner, of iQapps. “This honor reflects our sustained efforts to offer best experience to Android users and brings us the recognition that Trip Journal is a successful and innovative product.”

About The Gettie Awards

This year, The Gettie Awards will take place in conjunction with the first evening of VentureBeat’s annual MobileBeat conference scheduled for July 12, 2010, 7 PM at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco, California.
The Gettie Awards had an overwhelming 7,000 nominations from more than 100 countries. Seven total awards will be presented to the winners within the following categories:

Trip Journal for iPhone just got a whole lot better! With the v5.2 update, Trip Journal now comes with German interface also, especially for Tim, Thomas, Dinas, Steve, Oliver and Norman, dedicated users of our application who requested this option, and for the App Store reviewers who expressed this wish.

With the new version of Trip Journal comes also the Address Book Integration, meaning you can now share your trips with your friends from your iPhone address book. Just select the contacts and make the export – and your entire trip will go to their mailboxes!

And to make Trip Journal even better, we’ve added an option to upload videos from Trip Journal to Facebook and Flickr. Now you can share your geo-tagged mini-movies with your friends and family. So, where are you going next?
